What’s your favorite food?
I would have to say my favorite food is popcorn, it is a staple in my home. Not microwave popcorn or kettle corn, just popcorn popped from kernel on the stove with butter and cheese sprinkle. Other favorites are Chicken Wings (I am a fanatic) and my husband’s Chicken Corn Chowder.
Why did you become a therapist?
Since competitive pole dancing was out, being a therapist seemed to be the next best thing, LOL. I often use humor in therapy to help make a point or convey needed levity at times. Honestly, when I was younger, I wanted to be a Police Officer, but back in the day it would have been harder to do as a woman. Criminal justice and understanding why people do what they do has always fascinated me. This interest helps me to channel my skills & interests into being a therapist, and it has been a great fit for me over the years.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be & why?
If I could visit any place in the world, it would be Israel or Africa. Israel because there is so much history there and many sights I would appreciate seeing. Africa because I have supported a child there for many years. I would love to meet him in person. I would also love to go on a safari. Other than that, you can put me anywhere in front of an ocean and I am happy. I often say “It is where my compass leads me” because I find such peace watching and being in those waves.
What do your clients or coworkers love & appreciate about you?
I am direct. Feedback I get from my clients is that I, “tell it like it is”. I challenge my clients to see the parts of themselves they may not want to see or own, because I believe that’s what helps us grow and become better people. Fortunately, my clients find me to be compassionate, easy to open up to, and relatable, so people can take my directness. I encourage communication and harmony over conflict, and I do not shy away from the uncomfortable. I have often said to clients that “I may kick your a$$, but I am the first one to help you back up.”
What do you like best about working with PHA?
First and foremost, our clinic owner is an amazing boss. She does not micromanage; she trusts me to do my work and is always available if I need support. PHA has an awesome administrative staff. Not only do I enjoy them personally, but they are top notch professionals. I also love the diversity of the therapists. Each one brings something unique to the table and that is impressive.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I love to laugh and play practical jokes. Most often I find as much joy in planning jokes as in carrying them out. I have become a pickleball fanatic and play 3-4 times a week. My husband and I love to cook and have people into our home. Most weekends we entertain. What I love most in life besides my husband and son are my two dogs Mac (Beagle) and Lou (Miniature Pincher). and our four chickens Rosie, Rita, Roxy and Ruby.
