If you or a loved one suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Tourette’s, or Alzheimer’s, and live in Minnesota, you may benefit from using Medical Marijuana. Minnesota is the 23rd state to legalize medicinal cannabis for symptom relief from certain qualifying medical conditions.
We are registered providers with the Minnesota Medical Cannabis Program and are qualified to help you certify for use of medicinal marijuana. (Note: only providers enrolled in the state’s medical cannabis registry are qualified to certify your condition.)
Your medical insurance will likely cover the cost of the evaluation. The State of Minnesota also charges an annual fee of $200 (the State of MN will reduce enrollment fees to $50 for patients on Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability, Medicaid, MNCare, IHS or CHAMPVA).
“PTSD presented the strongest case for potential benefits. PTSD also has few effective treatment alternatives available for some patients with the condition.”
~ Minnesota Commissioner of Health Dr. Ed Ehlinger
Medical Cannabis Use as a Treatment Option
The use of medical marijuana for treatment of medical diagnoses is still being studied. Few harmful effects have been found with its use. Cannabis has only been found to help individuals cope with symptoms, and does not “cure” underlying medical conditions.
Traditional psychiatric medications, psychotherapy, and alternative approaches, e.g., acupuncture, meditation, are also used for managing mental health symptoms. For those individuals suffering from PTSD, full & partial recovery frequently involves working through the traumas associated with the symptoms. If you would like help finding a licensed mental health practitioner specializing in trauma treatment, please submit your information here, and we will help you find a provider
“The best part of PTSD treatment with medical cannabis is, it allows you to slow down. You don’t experience the anxiety attacks…. It allows you to think. It allows you to face some of those triggers that many PTSD victims are afraid to face.”
~ Minneapolis Star Tribune, July 8, 2017
