Stephanie Clausen-Stout
MA — Master's Level Psychotherapist
Stephanie tailors her work to meet the needs of each individual and couple she sees, while creating a safe, supportive space for exploration and change. She brings a quiet, honest presence to her sessions using kindness and directness. Areas of interest include grief, loss, trauma, adult attachment and relationship issues, life transitions, body image, aging, and blended families.
Stephanie likens therapy to the practice of Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending damaged pottery with gold — where we heal our inner hurts with self-compassion and appreciation for our new-found strength & skills and what makes us each unique. She believes our experiences in life and associated pain can be transformed via expanded awareness and empathy. The result is further maturity, a deeper understanding of ourselves and others, and a sense of personal wholeness.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Stephanie spent 10 years as a small business owner and employer in St. Paul, using her heart and creativity in the fields of horticulture, floral design, and landscape design. As a lifelong St Paul resident, she is deeply rooted in her community and is part of a blended family, parenting/step-parenting school-aged children. Outside of work, you will find Stephanie cooking and sharing meals, appreciating the beauty and quirks of old houses, listening to podcasts, and slowly creating an edible haven for people and wildlife in her yard.
Stephanie sees adult individuals & couples.

She believes that working holistically with her clients – including their mental, physical, sexual, and spiritual health – brings about the most satisfying changes in people’s lives. She uses cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness practice, systems theory, and expressive therapies to help her clients address a wide range of problems.
She has a special interest in working with women regarding body image and sexuality — for example, during pregnancy, following childbirth, and across the lifespan.
Amanda received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a Master’s degree in Social Work with concentrations in Women’s Reproductive Mental Health and Sexual Well-Being from Washington University-St. Louis, MO.
“Amanda believes that working holistically with her clients – including their mental, physical, sexual, and spiritual health – brings about the most satisfying changes in people’s lives.”
While working as a nursing student in hospital antepartum and labor & delivery departments, Amanda recognized a disturbing disconnect between mental health & obstetrics care for women and families during this major life transition. At the time, she was also having difficulty conceiving her own family, which furthered her understanding of how emotionally challenging becoming a parent can be. She decided then to redirect her career path from nurse to therapist in order to better support women and families during the childbearing years.
Through her own life experiences and professional training, Amanda has developed a passion for supporting clients during their own personal journeys. Whether that includes a goal of becoming parents and adjusting to parenthood, or creating meaningful & satisfying relationships, or healing from past hurts & traumas.
Topics of particular interest to her include perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, pregnancy and infant loss, complications during pregnancy including bed rest, pregnancy and birth trauma, NICU stays, unexpected outcomes, infertility a&nd infertility treatment, and relationship challenges.
In addition to her work as a psychotherapist, Amanda aims to reduce the stigma of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) by partnering with Doulas, Midwives, OB-Gyn providers & Infertility specialists to offer pro-active support and education to new and expecting parents. The goal of this project is to prevent and reduce the incidence of postpartum depression and anxiety.

Sonja Theobald
MSN, PMH-NP — Independent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Sonja Theobald
MSN, PMH-NP — Independent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
A seemingly simple act of kindness can be a profoundly healing thing. Sonja’s diverse nursing background has shown her that we are all one step, one accident, one situation away from something impacting our mental health. This sense of how unique we all are is what informs and motivates Sonja’s practice. She loves people’s stories: learning about their culture, backgrounds, and journies in a way that illuminates the “why” of who they are.
This passion led Sonja to return to her education and earn her second Master’s in Nursing, this time as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, which allows her to put these strengths to use directly where they will be most effective—mental healthcare. She demonstrates this by reaching those who are most in need of care, such as children, adolescents, peri/postnatal patients, and substance use populations. Sonja uses an empathetic approach to provide holistic, individualized treatment for her patients.
She is able to provide diagnostic assessments, medication management, and psychotherapy for all ages. She believes in working together as a team—that it is important for patients to bring ideas and suggestions they believe can help improve or impact their mental health. Sonja’s role in her patient’s mental health is a part of a larger picture of who they are, and Sonja works with people to help care for that entire person. She doesn’t simply offer psychiatric services, she offers people encouragement, kindness, and support.
