Birth Injury and Difficult Medical Events

An Online Group

This group is for:

Those who have given birth (up-to 3yrs postpartum) who have experienced significant deviation from their birth plans. Examples include:

  • Perineal trauma (e.g., vaginal tearing)
  • Prolapsed cord
  • Baby going to NICU after birth
  • Difficulty nursing
  • Significant medical intervention or complications for parent &/or baby
  • Prolapse
  • C-section
  • Hysterectomy
  • Lack of support/communication during or after labor/delivery
  • Long and/or difficult labors
  • Ineffective pain management
  • Preeclampsia/eclampsia
  • Use of forceps or vacuum assisted birth
  • Hemorrhage during or after labor/delivery

Whether you are dealing with trauma &/or pain associated from your birth or subsequent medical issues, it can be a consuming process – physically and emotionally. There is often shock, grief, anger, and guilt. And in the meantime, you have a new baby and are trying to cope and feel like yourself again.

Many people are not able to talk about the difficulties they experience, or their loved ones don’t really comprehend. These issues can cause misunderstanding and conflict within primary relationships. They can lead to depression, anxiety, regret, and shame.

This is more than a support group. We will:
  • Learn skills to help you cope more comfortably
  • Learn how to deal with your postpartum body & current reality.
  • Experience solidarity with others who ‘get it’
  • Regain your hope of healing and finding your “new normal”
